There are a plethora of activities to do during vacation. One of the all time favorite activities amongst vacation goers is adventure travel. If you have always longed to explore the South American territories that border the pacific, you should certainly try Jaco Costa Rica tours.

The region has long been synonymous with tourism. It is home to some of the best beaches in the South American continent. Adventure junkies also visit to explore the jungle terrain and partake in all manner of adrenaline inducing activities. Other exciting activities to enjoy when around include bird watching, sport fishing, kayaking, surfing and horseback riding.

If you are primarily interested in wildlife, you should consider heading to Carara National Park. The enclosure hosts a considerable number of magnificent Scarlett Macaws and also has many impressively large crocodiles. There are many hiking trails within it too. All hikers are encouraged to only explore the trails under the close watch of a guide.

Some trails may be open or off limits depending on seasonal factors. From the onset of the rainy season, a number of them often become perilous and difficult to traverse and are therefore closed off to access. The most difficult trails to hike along are those with massively inclined topographies. If you are physically impaired, it would be best to inform your tour agency or guide of the issue early on.

While most tourists visit the park with the primary aim of sighting Scarlett Macaws, there are many other wildlife species that live within its boundaries. Most of the resident species are birds, reptiles, amphibians and mammals. You are assured of spotting a wide range of peccaries, sloths, monkeys, iguanas, pythons and toucans.

The beaches that dot the coastline are always heavily trafficked by those who love water sports. One area that stands out in this regard is the Manuel Antonio coastline. Most reputable tour firms include kayaking gear in their packages, so be sure to ascertain this beforehand. Some professionals also offer kayaking lessons on site to beginners, so one need not worry about his skill.

The Playa Biesanz, still located along the coastline, is another remarkable gem. The beach is bordered by jungle territory that has an abundance of wildlife. It is an excellent setting for swimming, snorkeling and sunbathing. You should ask your agency if it will be providing snorkeling gear or whether you will have to use rentals. The shallow waters bordering the beach are frequented by dolphins, turtles and all manner of colorful fish. Whales can be occasionally sighted in the distance as well.

You should also go on a riverboat safari along the Damas Island Estuary. It is a heavenly place from where one can explore a vast array of exotic wildlife. The estuary takes many turns along its path, with every turn giving way to breathtaking scenery. It is great for kayaking too.

Some items are essential to have when on tour. Ensure your packing list includes sunscreen lotion, a hat, insect repellent, a waterproof camera, bathing suit, water sandals and a towel. With this in mind, your trip should be memorable.
