Information On Hostels, Hotels And B&B In New Orleans

Even after Hurricane Katrina in 2005, New Orleans remains a hot spot for travel. When it comes to locating budget lodging, most often the city hostels host the best prices. Although, when looking for a more romantic experience, a b&b in New Orleans can often be a great option.

With several bed and breakfast establishments located in or near the city, there is no shortage from which to choose. Whether looking for a themed stay, or one that is more traditional, the crescent city has it all. In addition, there are several Air B&B operated by homeowners in the area.

The city that is New Orleans, Louisiana with its romantic atmosphere has always been popular with honeymooners. When getting married in Spring or Summer, it is important to reserve any spots for a wedding or reception as early as possible. It is also important to book any hotel, motel, hostel or bed and breakfast reservations well in advance.

The annual New Orleans Heritage and Jazz Festival occurs each year in late April and early May. As a result, the highest lodging prices are often found during this period. For example, a room that might go for $99 a night during the rest of the year might well be $499 during the festival.

One area that is quite convenient and accessible by trolley is that of the Garden District. An area which host a number of small hostels, hotels and restaurants which are often less experience than those in the French Quarter. A trip to New Orleans, Louisiana would not be the same without a visit to the historic Cafe DuMonde or French Quarter cafe, both of which can be found in the area.

Other attractions in the area include the historic Tippitina's nightclub along with several art museums. There are also several cafes, diners and restaurants, most of which are lesser expensive than those found in the French Quarter or Bourbon Street. Whereas, Magazine Street, a short walk away host a number of historic cafes and vintage shops.

Jazz Fest as it's known by regulars is a two week festival which occurs each year on the last weekend of April and first weekend of May. While sanctioned performances only occur on weekends, there are now several indie festivals which occur on the days between. There are also several concerts which occur during this period with most requiring a special ticket.

Regardless of lodging type, there are always people who can help plan a day or night on the town. At most bed and breakfasts, motels and hotels, a concierge or staff can assist in making dinner and show reservations, getting tickets to sold out concerts or simply answering questions. When it comes to hostels, many offer events and tours focused on clubs, restaurants and other attractions.
