Doing recreational activities with boats is fun specially when you are together with friends, relatives and associates. You could be traveling together on a river, sea or lake and enjoy swimming, fishing, diving and other water sports. This is usually done during the hot summer days where the weather is great for these things and you are not worried in getting cold.

Having your own vessel used is an advantage because you would not worry if its available unlike the rental ones where its availability should be confirmed. But you need to use and rent boat storage spaces Tucson when cold seasons come for the protection of your vessel. This prevents damages from harsh forces of winter.

Although there are things you need to do before storing them because it can get damaged even if it is stored safely for a long time. These damages might not be covered by your insurance and would cost you great money for repairs so you could use them again. Here are several tips in preparing your boat for storage.

Take your craft onto the water for one last time before you store it, either with relatives, associates, friends or alone. Aside from enjoying together the cruise, you must be observing if anything there in your vessel needs fixing. Have them first fixed before you winterize them because cold weather could worsen its condition and make its problem worse.

Thoroughly clean your boat through scrubbing out any of the nasty gunk you might find that had built up there during your use. This includes slime, barnacles and grime but clean not only the exteriors and include the interiors of your craft as well. Check its refrigerator lockers and find the ones that would be spoiled when left there for the whole winter.

After you have finished cleaning your craft thoroughly, you must get it dry first before sending it to its storage space. Drain all water away from it by raising the bow for it to drain it more efficiently and give it time enough for the moisture to evaporate. Purchase bags of mildew control and put them in the cabin and compartments to fight against mildew.

Change the oil because there is good chance of it being mixed with water and acid during its time of being used and could corrode its engine. This is important for water crafts to avoid damage by long idleness and can be done by replacing the filter, flushing out the oil then pouring in a new one. Refresh the coolant system also by draining and flushing the remaining with water then replace a new antifreeze.

Loosen drive belts or remove it entirely then put them in storage and wait for the end of winter as leaving them all season cause the tensions to remain. Cracks may develop because of constant process of thawing and freezing. Disconnect battery to avoid energy drainage.

After you have than the above steps then give it a wax job. This does not only make the boat looks nice but stops the rust and corrosion. Cover it after to prevent dust and grime accumulation.
