Discovering A New Self Learning Personal Adventure

By Roger Parker

A new board game which sounds like a lot of fun is making it's way to the open market in the near future. While designed with travelers in mind, the Self Learning Personal Adventure game can be played from home as well. For, the games designers have created a post card based adventure game in which the United States Postal Service will be the main player.

The concept for the game was born when two gamers were chatting about issues related to gaming online with others. One of the two suggested how it would be fun to send out post cards to people with mini-games on the back. Once having designed the first few postcards, the creators had a viable prototype with which to set up a GoFundMe page.

The game is a series of mini-adventures which are played out over the course of twelve weeks. In the first week, individuals will focus on Character Creation, then in weeks following, a small portion of the overall game will eventually lead to a conclusion. If interested, individuals can begin by discussing the game on Facebook, just search for Adventure Post, click follow, then begin chatting.

The character or avatar of the person will commit a terrible crime against humanity during the first week of game play. Based on the work of Richard Garriott in the UDIC community, the experience will no doubt be a challenge. For, as a sentence, each player must work through several tough physical and mental challenges which will define the real person behind the character.

As part of the overall game, individuals will face life like moral dilemmas in eight areas of virtues which will take careful thought when providing the answers. After which, individuals will face a mighty foe based on those answers at the end of the game which requires one on one combat. Individuals, playing as Avatars, either will or will not be able to earn back a mantle which had been lost during the earlier part of the adventure.

One rendition of the board game can be found on the Board Game Geek website. As game creators know new games can be a challenge, the game builders have created a shorter holiday version of the game. The primary reason for creating the holiday version, to show individuals what to expect once the official game and pieces are released. After which, players will already have a grasp on how the game works once the official version is released.

In the holiday version, the creators used an old school dungeon map which had been revised. Whereas, the official maps for the game will be illustrated by artists at Dark Realm Maps. As a result, the official version of the game will not have any copyright violations which could be the case in using the old map.

The creators have also designed a welcome package which contains the 1st two post cards, Character Creation, the first mini-adventure, a custom dice bag with the game logo with four six-sided dice, a plastic pawn and any adventures which are part of the unlocked GoFundMe goals when shipped. As the GoFundMe goals go up, there will be a number of upgrades associated with the package which will either be part of the Welcome Package, or which can be purchased and shipped once the game set is complete.
