Steps To Create A Senior Travel Blog Of Your Own

By Shirley Sanders

You have now reached the age for retirement. You are now living a relaxing and calming life. You even started to visit places and countries with your spouse, too. Every moment is captured in photos and stored in your laptop. You saw your friend posting his interests in his website. After asking him why he does that, it makes you want to start your own senior travel blog, too.

Blogs are similar to journals but posted online. It is a place where anyone can write about their passion and interests on the web. There are many sites that can support and host your blog. WordPress, Blogger and Tumblr are some of the platforms you can choose from. They have basic settings and features in their sites that are simple and easy to navigate.

The first step is to think of a blog name. A combination of your names with your spouse may do so everyone can know who you are. A phrase that you have heard from the locals may also be a perfect candidate. There are no limits in your choices. Silly names may even do if you so choose.

Other pertinent and basic information will be asked of you by the host site. Fill in the required details like username and password so you will be able to officially start posting your contents. Once done, you are now free to choose a blog theme. You should know that these sites are free, unless you choose to do self hosting on your blog.

Various themes and backgrounds are embedded in these platforms. Choose one that best illustrates your taste and personality. Various colors and shapes are usually the go to for bubbly and jolly persons. Coordinated and styles on the other hand are what is suitable to those with calm and sophisticated demeanors.

Do not forget that the background should also be suitable for the blog you are creating. It should be a theme that attracts the attention of your potential readers. When they see it, they will know immediately what your blog is about.

Now that you have finished all of those, your first content is now ready for a write up. It does not have to be full of words. Pictures can relay the content, too. Just add a bit of caption on it so readers know where it was taken and what you were doing.

Included in the blog are some of your recommendations of the place. You could add activities that you did not find anywhere and the best places to eat genuine cuisines. You would not notice it but some of your readers have plans to go there one day. When they do, they will keep your recommendations in mind so they can experience what you have.

It is alright if you are still not sure as to how you like to develop the contents and the blog. It might help if you look into others and see how they were able to do theirs. Some sites you can view are Contented Traveller, Senior Nomads, and Adventures of Empty Nesters. These blogs are formed and developed by retired professionals.
